Obituary


Mary S. Garcia, 77, of College Station passed away Thursday, September 7 at Fortress Nursing Center.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 12 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. Interment will follow at Bryan City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. rosary service Monday, September 11 at the funeral home.

Mary was born September 25, 1939 in Brazos County the daughter of Manuel G. and Antonia (Salas) Garcia. She graduated from A&M Consolidated High School in 1958. Mary enjoyed being around her...

Mary was born September 25, 1939 in Brazos County the daughter of Manuel G. and Antonia (Salas) Garcia. She graduated from A&M Consolidated High School in 1958. Mary enjoyed being around her family, sewing, working puzzles and playing cards. She particularly enjoyed bowling and was member of several women's bowling leagues for many years. While in high school, she played softball and volleyball. She was a dedicated Catholic.

Maria is preceded in death by her parents; and her siblings, Alejandra Davila, Roberto Garcia, Paulina Gomez, Apolonio Garcia and Amanda Mimbela.

She is survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Guadalupe Garcia, Manuel and Karen Garcia, John and Brenda Garcia; sister-in-law, Estela Garcia; thirty-two nieces and nephews, and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.

The family extends a special thank you to the dedicated staff at Fortress Nursing Center for all the care they gave to Maria.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church (Funeral Meals Ministry) or St. Joseph Catholic Church Building Fund.
